F.Joan Yakel 79 of Harrisburg passed away Friday, April 23, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Herman and Frances Trommer. She was retired from the American Cancer Society. She was a member of St. Thomas United Church of Christ in Linglestown, Linglestown Women's Club and Linglestown Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, tending to her gardens and many other hobbies over the years. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald (Jerry)Yakel, her brother Dennis Trommer and her parents. Joan is survived by her daughter, Lori Sherlock (Tom) her son, Glen Yakel; her sister, Carol Wizmerski, her brother, Robert Trommer, sister-in-law Amy Trommer, nieces and nephews and her cat Ace. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 12 noon at St. Thomas United Church of Christ, 6490 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. The Rev. Dan Schmidt will be officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon, at the church, prior to the service. Arrangements are by the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Harrisburg. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
