Sabine "Sam" E. (Couval) Mahunik November 3, 2020 Sabine "Sam" E. (Couval) Mahunik, 69, of Baldwinsville passed aware peacefully on Tuesday after a courageous and fearless battle with cervical cancer. Sam was born in France, grew up in Bensalem, PA and attended Alliance College where she met her husband, Walter "Vodge". In the Syracuse area, she built a life filled with family, friendships, and colleagues from her time at Syracuse University, where she worked for over 20 years. Sam will forever be remembered as being incredibly selfless and loving to those close to her. With every step of the way was her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Vodge. They enjoyed endless vacations together, casino trips and hunting shenanigans. Her heartbroken daughters, Fan and Azure will remember her for the endless support, unwavering love and all of the late evening chauffer pickups that brought funny memories. Her greatest joys were her two grandsons, Zander and Tristan. She was their GeGe and her love for them, even from afar was felt as she would talk with them daily, play games with them over Facetime, and mend their injured stuffies. She is predeceased by her parents Jules and Janina (Wasko) Couval, and her in-laws Edward and Lucille (Lesicki) Mahunik. Sam is survived by her husband, Vodge; her daughters Fan and Azure (Nathaniel) Proctor; her grandsons, Zander and Tristan; her siblings, Yolande (Jeffrey) Jones, Rosie (Jon) Oldani, Suzanne (Ron) Templin, Benjamin (Dorothy) Couval; her Godson Evan, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 with funeral services to follow at 3:00 pm.
