James R. Creveling, 68, once Newport principal

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. James R. Creveling, 68, of Baldwinsville, died Monday at home.

He was owner-operator of the first Burger King restaurant in Syracuse; a former principal of Newport, Pa., High School; a former schoolteacher in Bellefonte, Pa., and Newport; a Marine Corps veteran of World War II; received a master's degree from Penn State University; a graduate of the former Bloomsburg State College and Bloomsburg, Pa., High School; and a member of Washington Lodge 265, F&AM, Bloomsburg, and Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, North Syracuse; and a former member of North Syracuse Lions Club and Elks clubs in both Newport and Bloomsburg. 

Surviving are two sons, Richard A. of Stillwater, Minn., and James D. of Syracuse; a daughter, Laura A. of Arlington, Va.; a brother, Keith A. of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Marian J. Zeiders of Emmaus, Pa., and Nancy L. Lindenmuth of Lewisburg, Pa. 

Services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in Fergerson Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
