Henry T. Deren

Henry T. Deren of Holland and Richboro died peacefully Friday Dec. 4, 2015, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. He was 89. 

Born in Hazelton, Pa., he was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. Pollak Deren, and son of the late John and Mary Deren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas; and a granddaughter, Hannah. 

Henry was a graduate of Hazelton High School, Class of 1942. He received his bachelor's degree from LaSalle University. 

Henry proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Cuban Missile Crisis, retiring as a first lieutenant. After his retirement, he taught Math and Science at New Hope-Solebury High School for several years. 

Henry was lover of good music, especially the piano and the accordion, both of which he could play. Family came first and foremost, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren where the sparkle in his eyes. Family dinners and holidays together made everything special. 

Henry is survived by his devoted children, Beverly D. Muller and her husband, Paul, Millicent Burman, Nancy Fread, Henry Deren Jr., Mark Deren, and Jeff Deren and his wife, Lorie. He was very proud of his 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother and a sister. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 10 a.m. until his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown. Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery, Newtown.
