Jack was born on April 10th 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, to John and Irene (DeGroote) Gardiner. He was the oldest of 4 children - brother James & sisters Marie and Janice. Jack graduted from Bensalem High School in 1960 and immediately jumped into the working world as a short-order cook for Tony and Pete's resturant in Andalusa, PA. This is where he obtained his excellent culinary skills to which we are all truly thankful as he and his wife Betty hosted many holiday feasts. He later transitioned into the Steel Pipe Industry as a Buyer/Seller for AB Murray out of Bristol PA. and ultimately retireing from Tioga Pipe out of Philadelphia PA after many years of outstanding service. During his career, Jack also worked at Sears and Roebuck for 30 years.

Jack had a passion for fishing, crabbing, and horse racing. Each year the Kentucky Derby and the Triple Crown was an eagerly anticipated event as he would look to his favorite jockey Kendrick Carmouche for the win. Jack was a free-spirited adventurer and also enjoyed the casinos with his like-minded wife (partner in crime). He and his wife Betty were married in Las Vegas in 1996 at the Little Chapel of the West in a quiet, romantic ceremony. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate nature. Most of all, Jack was known for how much he loved and cherished his whole family to which he has stated "I am so grateful for them, I would do it all over again".

Jack was preceded in death by his father, John, his mother, Irene, his brother, James, and his son-in-law, Jeff Ratner.
