John L. Alloway, of Tinicum Twp., PA, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown Twp., PA.  He was 84.

            He was the loving husband of Janice (Preston) Alloway.  The couple had celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary on October 6, 2022.

            Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John and Pearl (Rankin) Alloway.  A 1957 graduate of Bensalem High School, Bensalem, PA, he attended Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, PA, where he studied agriculture.  Later, he took classes in metallurgy at Temple University, Philadelphia.

            Mr. Alloway was a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force Reserves, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

            He was employed as a steel worker in the Metallurgy Department at the U. S. Steel Co., Fairless Hills, for 30 years until retiring in 1989.  Following his retirement there, he worked at the Lampire Biological Farm, Bedminster Twp., PA, tending to the animals.

            He was Methodist in faith.

            Mr. Alloway loved farm animals, especially specialty chickens that he raised and showed over the years.  He served as the Leader of the Bucks 4H Poultry Club, Warrington, PA, for 14 years, and he will be remembered for the “chicken chats” he presented at P and A Pet Foods, Doylestown.  He also loved visiting farmers markets to purchase and enjoy the various food offerings.

            Surviving with his wife are three children, Jeffrey Alloway and his wife Penny, of Seaford, DE, David Alloway, and Barbara Scattergood and her husband James, of Charlotte, NC; and twin grandchildren, Justin and Olivia Alloway.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Alloway.

            His Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Suess-Gahman Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM.  Interment will follow in Kellers Church Cemetery, Kellers Church, PA.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bucks County 4H Club, Penn State Extension, 576 Penns Park Road, Suite EXT, Newtown, PA  18940.  Checks should be made payable to Penn State University.
