Susan O. MOYER, 70, of Genesee, PA, died Friday, October 20, 2023 in Maple City Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Hornell, NY.  

 

Born April 9, 1953, in Germantown, she was the daughter of Paul and Mary Geovjian Okoorian.  On June 26, 1980, in Cheltenham, she married William N. “Bill” Moyer, who predeceased her on August 12, 2021.  A 1972 graduate of Bensalem High School, she earned a degree in urban planning from Penn State University in 1976.  She was employed by Potter County Human Services as a school mentor in the Austin Area School District.  She was also a facilitator for the Big Brother Big Sister program in various schools prior to working at Human Services.  Susan served as Genesee Township Secretary for several years.  She enjoyed hiking, gathering herbs for medicinal use, gardening, cooking, and decorating.  She was a lifelong animal lover, especially cats.  Susan enjoyed the company of friends and was devoted to her family.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Genesee.  

 

Surviving are: a son, Will Moyer of Denver, CO; two step-daughters, Lillian Cowburn of Coudersport and Jennifer (Greg) Watson of Trumansburg, NY; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Claire (Scot) Miller of Genesee and Joann Hale of Doylestown; nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Paul Okoorian, Jr.  

 

Friends may call at Sacred Heart Church, Genesee, on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 AM.  The Rev. Christopher Wheeler will be the Celebrant and The Rev. Joseph V. Dougherty will be the Concelebrant.  Following the service, everyone attending is invited to join the family for a meal in the parish hall next door to the church.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kinney.
