July 31, 1940 - June 4, 2015 July 31, 1940 - June 4, 2015 Frances Patricia Mudie (Pat) age 74, of Malibu, California died suddenly June 4, 2015 at Ronald Reagan Hospital UCLA. Her quick wit and genuine kindness will be missed forever. She was born on July 31, 1940 in Greenville, South Carolina. Pat graduated from Bensalem High School in 1958, where she excelled in sports including field hockey, basketball and softball. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1962. She owned a Swenson's ice cream store in Hollywood with her first husband Sam before they moved to Malibu via Hollywood with their two children. She then pursued her interest in the law and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1979 with a J.D. In Law School she served as Notes and Articles Editor of the Southern California Law Review. At the time of her death she was retired from her practice of family law in Los Angeles. She insisted on enjoying her life in Malibu for over 40 years, hiking its mountains and relaxing on its beaches. She enjoyed voluminous reading, going to the opera, concerts at Disney Hall and travel with family and friends. Her ability to cook and entertain was unsurpassed and she prepared countless meals eaten overlooking the ocean by family and friends. She had a zest for life and was truly a renaissance woman. Mamu, as the kids called Pat especially loved spending weekends at her house with her grandchildren John Cole and Drake, who were the lights of her final twelve years as they spent every weekend with her in Malibu. She taught them to cook, to paint, to draw, and to enjoy reading next to her for hours, sitting in the living room overlooking the ocean. She is survived by her second husband, Robert Linde, her children daughter Heather Gail Mudie Olivier and her husband John Olivier, her son Jason Hunter Mudie, grandchildren John Cole and Drake Samuel Olivier, sister Joe Gail Uscenski and her husband Chet, her brother T. Randolph Hodgens, and many nieces and nephews, and many close friends. She was dearly loved and respected by all of her family which also includes many close cousins in North Carolina and New Jersey. She will be sadly missed by the Family Law attorneys in Southern California. She was predeceased by her parents Joe and Pansy Hodgens. A private memorial for Pat was held at her home in Malibu on Thursday June 11, 2015. Donations may be made to the National Park Foundation in her name, as she was an avid hiker of the Santa Monica Mountains throughout her life.

Pat really enjoyed the last all year reunion.  She had so much fun, and would have loved to be there for the upcoming one.
