Ralph Dower Obituary

Ralph Robert Dower, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023, in Bryn Mawr, PA.

Born on August 8, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA, Ralph was known for his kind, adventurous spirit that touched the lives of many.

A graduate of Bensalem High School, Ralph worked for Acme Markets for much of his career, retiring from Acme after 40 years of service. His colleagues will remember him as a reliable and supportive team member.

Ralph loved to spend his free time in the outdoors, particularly mountain biking and kayaking. He visited National parks across the country - Acadia National Park in Maine was a particular favorite - and he enjoyed taking long road trips with his beloved wife, Judy. Ralph could often be found with a camera in hand and loved to take photographs during his journeys, seeking out scenic vistas along the way to any destination.

In addition to his love for the outdoors, Ralph was a passionate craftsman and mechanic with an extensive knowledge of cars and motorcycles. Skilled in carpentry, plumbing, electrical and auto repair, and was always happy to lend a hand. His expertise and seemingly endless knowledge and generosity in this area was of great value to friends and family in need. Ralph loved to fix things and took great pride in knowing his craftsmanship would provide a lasting impact on those he helped.

A motorcycle rider for most of his life, Ralph was a longtime member of Gentlemen M/C in Quarryville, PA, joining in 1972. In addition to supporting the club during events over the years, he served as an officer for 10 years, including as club president in 1988.

Devoted to his family, who loved him tremendously, Ralph is survived by his wife, Judith Faust; his step-son, Zachariah Council (Elizabeth Council); his grandson, Benjamin Council; his brother- in-law, Walter Faust (Lois Faust); his sister-in-law Robin Dower, his niece, Danielle Faust; his nephew, Douglas Faust (Andrea Faust); and a great niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Ralph A. Dower; his mother, Dorothy Dower (Huey); and his brother, David Dower. His family will forever cherish the memories they shared with him, especially the many summers spent at Wallenpaupack Cottages, where he was known for his homemade ice cream.

As we remember Ralph Robert Dower, we celebrate his life and the lasting impact he had on those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on through the love, laughter, and adventures shared with his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to follow.
