Edward J. Gerlach - Class Of 1970

Edward J. Gerlach

Edward J. Gerlach, Jr., 68, of Kutztown, passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward and Agnes (Patricia) Gallagher. Ed was a union carpenter for 30 years and worked at the Limerick Nuclear Generating Station.

Though life presented many challenges to Ed, he was a man of strong faith, who loved the Word of God, and served the Lord in various churches throughout his life. Upon retiring in 2008, Ed enjoyed mentoring at Hope Rescue Mission in Reading, landscaping his yard, taking trips with his wife and family, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ed was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Kathy, of 48 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Brian (Laura) Gerlach of San Jose, CA, Christopher of Waynesburg, daughter Julie (Mike) Roeder of Schnecksville, and sister Patricia (Thomas) Tancredi of Alburtis; two grandchildren, Ava and Sawyer Roeder, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 11 AM at Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 N. Krocks Rd., Allentown. Visitation will be 10-11 AM at the funeral home. (www.stephensfuneral.com)

Kevin Taurino (1970)

Eddie was my next-door neighbor. He came from a beautiful family and we were friends when I was very young. RIP my Friend. God Bless  your friend Kevin.
