November 2011

Bensalem Twp High School
Classes of 1925 - 2011

Hello to all! We have made it to over 4,700 profiles and on our way to 5,000! Over 18% of our profiles have pictures. The pictures really help personilize our site so if you have a picture please up load to our site.

This is a call out for help from our Members. I just scanned and uploaded 1974 grads who are "In Memory" that did not have a picture. This looks better that just a blank screen and I think it shows a little respect. Check out 1974 and you will see what I mean. Now we need to get all the other years scanned too. So if you have a yearbook and a scanner please scan anyone that is "In Memory" and send to me and I will upload.  If we can get one person from each class to do this then it will be an easy project. If you have any questions let me know.

The Fall Newsletter is coming out soon. If we do not have your correct address let me know.

Thank you.

Kevin Szafranski - Class Of 2006

Kevin Stanley Szafranski was taken from us suddenly Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011. Kevin was a vibrant, beloved young man who was just beginning the next chapter of his life, he was only 23.

Kevin lived and spent his childhood in Bensalem, graduating in 2006 from Bensalem High School and proceeded to be the first in his family to receive a college degree, studying business management and marketing at Penn State Abington.

Throughout his life, Kevin's smile brightened every room he walked into and touched every heart he came across. His selfless loyal nature was admired by all.

Kevin's love of sports began at a young age and transitioned into lifetime passion coming in only second to his family. Kevin's best friend, teammate, coach, mentor and #1 fan, his dad, Stan Szafranski, will remember every pitch, catch , throw and moment they shard together.

Kevin shared a special bond unlike any other with his mom, Donna Szafranski. He was her baby boy, her life, her heartbeat and strength. They shared many special moments from watching the Phillies, to cooking in the kitchen, but most of all, they just loved being together.

A constant source of encouragement, love and purity, Kevin inspired his sister, Nicole, to live each day to the fullest. Nicole's fiancé, Joe Goss, was to Kevin the brother he always wanted.

He accomplished so much in his short life. His consistent, competitive, determined nature helped him to amount to the man he became. Aside from playing sports, attending college and being the strong hold for his family and friends, his ambition led him to experience his passion for sports as an intern for 97.5, Sports Radio, Fanatic. He was ready to embark on a new path, recently accepting a job with UPS which he would have flourished in as he did with everything.

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joseph Gilroy; and also preceding him in death was two of the most extraordinary women in his life, his Grammy, Dorothy Gilroy, and his favorite aunt, Denise.

He will be sadly missed by his mom and dad, Donna and Stan Szafranski; his sister and brother-in-law, Nicole and Joe; and also his shadow, his best friend and baby, Sydney Girl. He also will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, teammates and friends, especially his posse from Lake and Shore.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate and remember Kevin's life from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem. Interment will follow immediately in Resurrection Cemetery, all are invited.

In honor of Kevin's passion for sports and love for the game, in lieu of flowers, his family request that contributions be made in his name to Penn State Abington Baseball Team, 1600 Woodlane Road, Abington PA 19001: Attn: Karen Weaver. Tomlinson Funeral Home, Bensalem
