In Memory
Joan M. Guerra
Friday, August 2nd, 1935 - Thursday, January 18th, 2024
Joan M. (Marshall) Guerra passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pleasantville, NJ, to the late Frances (Gordon) and Harry Marshall and was a resident of Bensalem for the last 73 years.
Joan was a graduate of Bensalem High School, Class of 1952. She worked for the Bensalem School District for over 25 years, 13 of those years were spent with the transportation department.
Outside of work, Joan enjoyed exploring the pages of murder mysteries. To unwind, she would savor a dirty martini, ensuring it was garnished with precisely two olives "with the rocks on the side!" Joan held a deep love for the company of her family and friends. Always up for the next adventure, she traveled with her husband, sisters, and children from Boston to the Panama Canal, Alaska to the Badlands. She reveled in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching them grow and creating new memories together. In her later years, her favorite places to visit were Fort Pierce, Florida, and Sea Isle City, NJ, both holding a special place in her heart. ALL were always invited to stop by. She was very generous, always offering a helping hand, or an ear to listen, to anyone that needed it. Anyone who knew her felt loved, and they were!
Joan is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Ralph A. Guerra, who stood by her side through all of life's joys and challenges. She will forever be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jodi G. Ward (Philip), Carollee G. Marjarum (Robert), and Tricia G. Heil (Michael, II), as well as her sisters, Barbara Stackhouse and Patricia Schramm (The late Jack). Joan's memory will also be cherished by her 6 grandchildren: Rebecca Woodruff (Edward Jr), Scott Barnhart, Laura and Colin Marjarum, Corinne and Madelin Heil and 3 great grandchildren, Laci and Mia Woodruff and Henrik Barnhart; Her sister-in-law, Mae Guerra (The late Albie), brother-in-law, Fran Guerra, her very best friend Dorothy Wurst, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Joan was preceded in death by her sister, Carol DiCesare.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by her service at 7:30 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory can be made to Harvest Ministries Food Pantry, 2284 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020. This charity held a special place is Joan's heart.
