Dorothy Florence Harper McCafferty Obituary

Dorothy Florence Harper McCafferty, from Satellite Beach, FL, passed away on June 4, 2024, after suffering from an illness for many years. She was 88.

Dorothy was born on October 6, 1935 to Frank & Florence Harper in Cornwell Heights, PA. The 1st of five children, she rather quickly became a dynamic, fun-loving, motivational, hardworking & beautiful personality. Motherhood came shortly after graduation from high school & marriage, and quite a mother she was to her four children. As a devoted, loving, and happy mother, she successfully mastered many trades throughout the healthy years of her life, always with the mindset aimed toward supporting her family.

Though her early years of marriage had many superb moments with relative & in-law gatherings, and especially watching her four happy, healthy & successful children grow to adulthood, the years with her 2nd husband (Gerry) were the most rewarding and cheerful of her life. They traveled the world and lived in many exciting places. There always seemed to be many miles separating her from her children and extended family. However, she was always present for every family event, no matter how insignificant, and met her children, stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, mother, father, sisters, brothers, and loved ones with big hugs and a kiss on the cheek, and a love that often moved all to tears of joy. Also, anyone visiting her for all those years, inclusive of close friends, would be met with loving red-carpet treatment at her exquisite homes. She would work tirelessly from the time you stepped through the door until departure, every time an amazing and memorable experience!

Dorothy will be met in the heavens by her mother, father, sisters (Joan & Peggy), brother (Frank), two husbands (Gerry & Andy), family member (Lee) and stepdaughter (Eileen). She is survived by her brother & his wife (Bill & Lucy) three daughters (Debbie, Doreen, Dawn), her son (Dan), stepdaughter (Maureen), stepson (Gerry Jr.), her 10 grandchildren (Travis, Matthew, Jillian, Shannon, Shaun, Drew, Dana, John, Jeff, Patrick), 5 great grandchildren (Simon, Daniel, Malcolm, Olivia, Alyssa), her childrens spouses (Jim, Cheryl, Dirk, Jay, Richard), plus her grandchildrens spouses (Ely, Mike, Sam, Addy, Caleb, Maddie).

A memorial service will take place on September 9th, 2024 at the Dean-Geitner-Givnish Funeral Home, 7900 Oxford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19111. A receiving line/viewing will begin at 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM with a service to follow.
