Elizabeth A. “Betty Ann” (Yeagle) Wurst, 87, of South Windsor, formerly of Vernon, loving wife of 64 years of Richard P. Wurst, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Betty Ann was born on August 1, 1937, in Holmesburg, Philadelphia, PA, one of five beloved children of the late Melvin and Frances Yeagle.

Betty Ann graduated from Bensalem High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from West Chester State Teacher’s College in West Chester, PA. Prior to her retirement, Betty Ann had been an elementary school teacher in the Towns of Mansfield and Vernon, CT.

Betty Ann was a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church of Vernon. She was a member of the Women’s Fellowship, the Prayer Shawl Committee and sang in the church choir. More recently she was a member of the Book Club at The Residence at South Windsor Farms.

She enjoyed knitting, reading, playing the piano, singing, needlepoint and cross stitch. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband, Richard, she leaves her three children and their spouses, Karl Wurst & Amy West of Worcester, MA, Donald and Shelley Wurst of Mansfield, CT and Alan & Gaylan Wurst of Bolton, CT, her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Wurst and wife Claire, Alexander Wurst, Jacob Wurst, Gabriel Wurst and Clara Wurst. Betty Ann also leaves her three siblings, Reese Yeagle, Linda Applegate and Bruce Yeagle, several nieces, nephews, their families and many wonderful friends and neighbors. She is predeceased by her sister Evon Lindsay.

A memorial service will be at the First Congregational Church of Vernon, 695 Hartford Turnpike (Rt 30), Vernon, CT 06066 on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Church Memorial Garden. A gathering with a time of sharing will be in the church hall, immediately following the interment.
