Ernestine C. Truehardt, 80, of Andalusia, Bucks County, a retired bookkeeper who was active with the YWCA, died of a heart attack Tuesday at Paoli Memorial Hospital.

 

A lifelong resident of Andalusia, Ms. Truehardt was a graduate of Bensalem High School. She attended Temple University for two years and then became a bookkeeper for companies in Center City.

 

From 1969 to 1972, she was bookkeeper for sportsman and philanthropist George D. Widener.

 

She then was employed by his nephew, philanthropist and former 76ers owner Fitz Eugene Dixon Jr., as a bookkeeper on his staff in Lafayette Hill.

 

She retired in 1997.

 

Ms. Truehardt was a member of the Frankford YWCA for 50 years. She was former secretary of the board of the Philadelphia YWCA and was a member of the organization's national board of advisers.

 

She is survived by sisters Marjorie Evans, Helen McKinney, and Anita Christian; and brothers Ernest, Lawrence and Raymond.

 

A Funeral Mass will be said at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 1731 Hulmeville Rd., Bensalem. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
