John J. Diamond - Class Of 1945

John J. Diamond

John J. Diamond Jr. passed away recently at Pennswood Village in Newtown. He was 86.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a lifelong resident of Bucks County. He was a graduate of Bensalem High School, Class of 1945, who also earned graduate and undergraduate degrees from Temple University. He served his country as a Navy and Army veteran with a retired rank of first lieutenant.

John was a public school teacher in Bensalem for 37 years, where he touched the lives of so many young people. He also served on the Neshaminy School Board and up until recently was president of the Bensalem Historical Society.

His interests included sports, travel, and antiquing.

John was the beloved husband for 57 years of the late Elizabeth 'Betty' Poston Diamond. He was the devoted father of John J. Diamond III of Florida and Thomas M. Diamond and his wife, Janice, of Levittown. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service honoring his legacy at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 10 at Pennswood Village, 1382 Newtown-Langhorne Road, Newtown, Pa.

Kathleen C. Wiltbank (McCauley) (1969)

Mr. Diamond was one of my favorite teachers.  Always kind and understanding.  He was well liked and appreciated by many students.  I know he is missed by many family and friends.
