James Murphy

On Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, Jim Jr. and Billy Murphy lost their father and best friend, James E. 'Jimmy' Murphy Sr. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Aria Hospital Torresdale Campus.

Jimmy was born on Dec. 25, 1928 in the Tacony Section of Philadelphia.

He had many fond childhood memories of Cornwells Heights/Bensalem area and was a longtime resident of Bristol and Levittown.

He was a proud Army veteran having served in the 23rd infantry during the Korean War where he had received four Bronze Stars and numerous Distinguished Citations; he then joined the U.S. Navy; he proudly served his country for a combined total of eight years.

He retired from Tenneco as a maintenance technician in 1994.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, having breakfast or lunch with his daughter-in-law, Kim; going to yard sales with his lifelong buddy, Joe, and tinkering in his tool shed and with cars.

Jimmy was best known as a generous, sincere, human-being; a selfless man who would do anything for anyone.

He was the beloved husband of Shirley Murphy; father of Jim Jr. and his wife, Kim, and Billy Murphy and his wife, Carol; grandfather of Frankie (Lena), Krishelle (Mike), Caitlin, Farryn and Alex; and great-grandfather to Harley, Adelynn and Gage.

Jimmy will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
