JOHN W. DARRAH JR.

 John W. Darrah Jr., 92, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 25, 2024. Born on August 10, 1932, in Philadelphia where he was a lifelong resident of the city.

  John was a retired Philadelphia Police Detective. He proudly served his country for 4 years as a member of the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge in 1954.

 John and his wife, Catherine (ne: Snyder), have been devoted parishioners of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church since 1977. John was a hardworking man, cherished by his wife of over 50 years, Catherine, and a devoted father to Catherine (Louis) Downey, the late John W III and Cheryl Ann. His proud legacy continues through his precious grandchildren Alese (Joe) Fisher, Christine Matera, Brittany Downey and the late Catherine Matera. As well as, his great-grandchildren Eric Santos, Skylar Malloy, Jayden Machado, Tristan Downey, and the late Jessica Lynn.  The apple of his eye great-great daughter, Avery.  Predeceased in death by his parents John W Darrah Sr and Dorthy (nee:Clegg) and his brother Albert (Ruth) Darrah. John had many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

 John was an avid gardener and took pride of his lawn.  He was true golf fan although never picked up the clubs.  He also enjoyed John Wayne movies and putting together puzzles.

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday evening August 29. 2024 5:30PM to 8:00PM at the EDWARD J. PETNER FUNERAL HOME (family owned and operated 6421 Frankford Ave . Phila ,PA 19135). A viewing will held Friday morning August 30, 2024 9:00AM to 10:15AM at St. Albert the Great Church (212 Welsh Rd. Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006) followed by his Mass of Christian of Burial 10:30am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
