Richland, Washington - Clarence "Dutch" Albert Schmidheiser of Richland, Washington, passed away on April 2, 2023. He was 90 years old. Dutch was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Albert and Alice (Erby) Schmidheiser on April 27, 1932. He graduated from Bensalem, PA, High School in 1950, the University of Cincinnati in 1955 and was a Post-Grad at Oklahoma State while serving in the United States Air Force.
Dutch was a retired Lt. Col. in the Air Force and worked for Westinghouse as a Mechanical Engineer until his retirement in 1988. He married Sharon (Vassar) Mays in 1996 after the death of his first wife Dawn (Harrington) Schmidheiser. He enjoyed spending his time reading, walking, playing golf and dabbling in Investments.
Dutch is survived by his wife Sharon; three children from his former marriage, Eric (Pat) Schmidheiser, Stacey (Marlon) Lockhart and Karen (Tim) Stephens; grandchildren Ryan Schmidheiser, Amanda Winkler, Rebecca Marsh, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Dawn.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Gale G. (Windy) Reid (1950)

Dutch was an outstanding guard on the Bensalem Football team. When it was third and short, Van Horn would often rely on "Porky" Oliver to get the first down with a quarter back sneak.  Dutch, Mervin Walter and I would agree which direction we would push, and Porky followed.  Dutch was a great teammate and a much better student than the rest of us.  RIP, Dutch.
