Obituary for Robert Wayne Reif
Robert Wayne Reif, 93, of Leesburg, Florida passed away on July 10, 2026 in Leesburg, Florida. Bob was born on March 8, 1933 in Cornwells Heights, Pennsylvania to Adolf and Hazel Reif. He started his career as a machinist’s helper and worked his way up to tool and die maker. He retired from the Naval Air Propulsion Center in Trenton, New Jersey in 1993. While working there he built machines to test new engines for the Navy. He served in the Army in France during the Korean War Conflict. At the end of basic training his platoon was asked who could type and when Bob said he could (a high school level typing course) they sent him to France as opposed to the front lines. He always said this was God’s way of protecting him! When his enlistment ended, he went home and married Jean on February 18, 1956.
They moved to Beverly Hills, Florida in 1996 and to Leesburg in 2004. They were members of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Leesburg.
Bob was predeceased by wife of 58 years, Jean (2014) and his brothers Herman and Bernie. Bob is survived by His son Wayne (Rebecca) and daughter Sandra Birner (Jonathan), his grandchildren David Birner (Amanda), Zachary Birner (Kit), Kasey Reif, and Kelly Reif, and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his long-time companion Beverly, who was a special blessing to our family.
Bob enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, bowling, and horseshoes. He loved God, his family, and his friends. Everyone knew the more he picked at you the better he liked you!
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Leesburg, FL on August 6 at 2:00 pm. Donations in Bob’s honor can be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
