Raymond Elwood Katzmar Jr.

Raymond Elwood “Ray” Katzmar, Jr.
Ray was born in Cornwells Heights,( Bucks County) , PA on November 29, 1939 . His
parents were Raymond Sr. and Mildred nee:( Knight) Katzmar. He passed away on
January 22, 2024.
His daughter, Linda “Geriann '' Causey and her husband Randy
previously of Naples, FL. and currently residents of Milledgeville , GA have been
instrumental in caring for Ray’s needs and estate. His daughter Debra Valentine, a BSN
and her husband Tim from Panama City Beach, FL provided much needed support
during his convalescence in recent months. A grandson, Tim Valentine and his wife
Miriam plus Ray’s three great grandchildren, i,.e. Anna, Silas and Jake live in northern
FL.
Ray is survived by a son, i.e. Charles “Chuck” Katzmar who resides in PA.
Additionally, his sister Bonnie Drexler and her husband Harford who also reside in PA.
He maintained a close relationship with his brother Lew and his wife Ginny Katzmar who
reside in NJ.
Ray graduated from Bensalem High School in 1957 and worked at Marshall
Maintenance as a machinist in Trenton,NJ then later became a branch plant manager in
Lansdale, PA. He attended Trenton State College for an advanced degree in the
construction trades. He then relocated to Tolland CT where he was instrumental in
founding a construction company, i.e. Machinery Erectors of New England which he
co-owned. His business eventually relocated him to Florida where he and his wife
Josephine and children resided. He then worked for Tropicana Orange Juice Corp. for
several years before taking on a superintendent position with the Westra Construction
firm where he was involved with installing large water pump stations in many areas of FL
until his retirement. In his spare time he loved fishing in Tampa Bay on his boat,
“Zookeeper III”. He loved to travel and on two occasions he traveled to Alaska on fishing
expeditions with his step-son Paul Smith (deceased), his son Chuck and brother Lew.
One of his favorite hobbies was serving as a volunteer with the “Florida Flywheelers”
group in their construction and demonstrations of an ole time line shaft machine shop.
Ray rebuilt a 1931 Model A car which he enjoyed working on. Additionally he frequently
served as a technical advisor to his son Charles, “Chuck” who owned a machine shop.
Funeral/ Interment services will be held in late Spring in a CT cemetery where he will be
laid to rest with his wife and son.
