Mary Anne McElroy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 4, 2024.

Mary Anne McElroy, aged 85, of Bensalem, PA, passed away on October 27, 2024. Born on June 24, 1939, in Philadelphia, Mary Anne was a beloved figure in her family, in which she was known as everyone's favorite cousin.

Mary Anne graduated from Bensalem High School. She began her career as an administrative assistant at RCA, and took the train each day to New York to work at Rockefeller Center. She remained with the company through its transitions to General Electric, Martin Marietta, and Lockheed Martin, from which she ultimately retired.

Outside of her professional life, Mary Anne was an avid sports fan, holding season tickets for the Philadelphia Sixers and cheering on the Phillies. She enjoyed casinos and traveling, with favorite destinations including Ireland, Florida, and Las Vegas. She treasured summers spent in Wildwood at "The Heap," where she made great memories with her hilarious extended family. She loved hot fudge sundaes, was a great Scrabble player, and gave the best gifts.

Mary Anne was preceded in death by her mother, Sadie Mackin McCafferty, father, Lawrence McElroy, and stepfather, Charles McCafferty. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn (Lyn) McCafferty Huttemann; brother-in-law, Joseph Huttemann; niece, Robyn Bonnett; nephew, Joseph Huttemann, II, and too many godchildren to count.

Interment will be private. A remembrance party to celebrate Mary Anne's life will be held on her birthday, next June. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Bensalem EMS (https)://www.bensalemrescue.org/donate.
