George Blackburn

Deceased Name: George S. -- "Blackie" -- Blackburn
 
George S. "Blackie" Blackburn, 68, of Camp Hill, died Monday, October 25, 2010 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Lower Paxton Twp.

 

A Navy Veteran, he was a retired Fifth Grade School Teacher from Martic Elementary School, Penn Manor School District. A volunteer for Camp Hill Borough Office, he received the Pennsylvania Recreation and Parks Society Volunteer of the Year Award in 2007. He also received the Penn Manor School District Teacher of the Year Award in 1996. He loved books and nature. Life was always an experiment and adventure with Blackie.

 

He is survived by his wife Deborah; two sons, Michael and Eric; two step-daughters, Heather and Beth; and five grandchildren, Patrick, Liam, Colton, Chaundy, and Calan.

 

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

George Stockman (1961)

George was a varisty cross country runner -- one who always finished ahead of me. I remember him being on the quiet side relative to his teammates. Glad to hear about his life here and very sorry to learn he left us so soon.
