Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas John Day, who departed this world peacefully on January 2, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on January 20, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Thomas and Florence Day, Thomas spent his life surrounded by family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A proud Operating Engineer with Local 542 for 58 years, Thomas dedicated his career to the construction industry, where his skill and hard work earned him the respect of his peers. He was not only an accomplished professional but a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle, who cherished his time with family, including his beloved wife of 62 years, Anna Marie Day (nee Rigney), his daughter Deborah Day and son-in-law John Kelly, his son Thomas Day and daughter-in-law Kimberly Day, and his sons Kevin Day and Dean Day. He also leaves behind his brother Louis Day (Lois), sister Carol Hummer (Martin), and brother Robert Day, as well as his grandchildren, Michele, Anthony, Thomas III, Tiffany, Angela, Kyle, Allysa, and Jessica, great grandchildren, Justice, Ayden, Annamae, and Lola, and his many nieces and nephews and friends, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts. Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis, and his grandchildren Michael and Kevin.

Thomas’s roots run deep, as he took great pride in his Italian and Irish heritage. He had a passion for fishing, finding peace and joy in the tranquility of the water. His laughter, warmth, and wisdom will be fondly remembered by those who shared in the moments that brought them closer together.

As a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy, Thomas served with honor. His service to his country reflected the same commitment he brought to his family and community.

We invite those who knew and loved Thomas to pay their respects during the public viewing, which will be held at Tomlinson Funeral Home on January 10, 2025, starting at 6:00 pm. Following the viewing, a funeral service will commence at 7:00 pm, where we will honor his life and the legacy he leaves behind.

In this time of sorrow, let us come together to celebrate the remarkable life of Thomas John Day, a man who touched many lives with his kindness and spirit. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
