Robert Dechant - Class Of 1963

Robert Dechant

Robert G. Dechant of Bensalem passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Aria Hospital in Philadelphia, surrounded by his loving family. He was 63.

Born in Philadelphia, Bob was a lifelong resident of Bensalem. He was a graduate of Bensalem High School, Class of 1963.

He served in the U.S. Army as a military police, obtaining the rank of sergeant.

Bob was a Bensalem police officer, retiring with the rank of captain in 2000, after 31 years of service. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 53. He was a graduate of the 162nd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va.

An avid golfer and a member of Deerwood Country Club in New Jersey, he was also a member of Bensalem Golf Association at Bensalem Country Club. He enjoyed trivia and the camaraderie with his many friends at Casmirri's Eddington House, along with his many golf trips to Myrtle Beach.

He will be sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.

 

He was the beloved husband of Lenora (Pantano) Dechant; and the loving father of James Dechant and his wife, Valerie, of Philadelphia, and Lori Tyler and her husband, Jamie, of Harrington, Del. Also surviving are one brother, Richard Dechant and his wife, Leslie, of Levittown; and four grandchildren, Allison, Kolin, Keely and Keegan; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Friends may also call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103. Tomlinson Funeral Home,

Bobby, from Trevose Elementary to BHS there are many memories. Sleep well old friend.

Ray Guim (1974)

The first time I met Bobby was on the first tee at Bensalem Country Club. He said he did not play in 8 years. He shot 78 that day! Bob was a Bensalem cop for many years. He was a good guy!

David Clee (1964)

first time i met bob little league basball 1956.then the years growing up together through high school then the police force for 29 yrs and thank heaven i got to play golf with him less then a month before he died take care and god bless i will think of you often your pal dave clee
