Obituary

Charles F. Hemphill “Chuck,” 76, passed away February 23, 2022, in Clovis, New Mexico. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 5, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at the 1st Presbyterian Church, 101 Pile St, in Clovis, NM. Joseph Blaschke will be officiating. Cameron Ridenour, Alex Sim, Gavin Sim, Shawn Bogear Jr., and Ariel Hemphill will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Charles was born March 21, 1945, to the home of Charles and Maria Hemphill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of 3 children. Charles served in the U.S. Air Force from June 28, 1963, till retiring on July 1, 1990. During this time, he was a firefighter at several Military bases. Charles was most proud of his work on HH43 rescue helicopter better known as Pedro. He married Melanie January 27, 1990, in Clovis, New Mexico. After retiring from the U.S Air Force he worked various jobs including substituting at Clovis Municipal schools and Lawn irrigation systems on Cannon AFB. Charles enjoyed woodworking in his spare time He also volunteered for several service programs including case reviews for child protective services, a substitute for the Care Advisory council, and the State Advisory council.

Charles is survived by his wife; Melanie Hemphill of the home, Christine Sim of Clovis, NM, and son; Shawn Bogear, sister; Eleanor Henderson, Ariel Hemphill, Alex Sim, Shawn Bogear Jr., Gavin Sim, Olivia Bogear, Izzy Bogear, Kenzie Bogear, and Noel Welch-Lopez. He is proceeded in death by his parents: Charles and Maria Hemphill.

Thank you for your service in the Air Force, and all of the community work you did in Clovis.

I am going to miss our emails and so glad we kept in touch.  I will keep in touch with your wife.  You are going to be missed not only by your relatives and friends but by the whole community.  RIP Chuck.  Another classmate gone too early.
