Roger L. Henwood Obituary

Roger L. Henwood, 79, of Lehighton, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem, on Friday, July 24, 2026. He was the companion of Sheila Snyder of Lehighton for over 25 years.

Born April 23, 1947, in Bristol, PA, he was the son of the late Gerald and Marion (Loudon) Henwood. He was a 1965 graduate of Ben Salem High School and a graduate of Delaware Valley University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science.

Roger was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the US Navy.

Following his service, Roger worked on the family farm in Indiana for 10 years, was a self-employed truck driver, and later a truck driver for NEMF until his retirement.

He was a member of the Lehighton American Legion Post 314, the former VFW Post 256 in Lehighton, and Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club.

Roger enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing pool and working on cars.

He is survived by his companion, sister, Molly wife of Harry Thorpe of CA, a son, and a grandson.

A Celebration of Life service will be held from 1-4 PM on Saturday, August 8th at the Lehighton American Legion Post 314, 314 Veterans Avenue Lehighton, PA 18235, Military honors, under the direction of the Lehighton UVO will be held at 2 PM.
