Lawrence was born on Oct. 27, 1948 in Philadelphia and was the son of Hermann and Mildred Smith Reif.

He was a 1967 graduate of both Bucks County Technical School for Appliance Repair and Bensalem High School. He retired from the New Jersey Transit Authority as a bus driver. He currently was a paper carrier for the Lock Haven Express.

Lawrence is a member of the New Jersey Transit Union. He was an avid reader.

Surviving are two sons, William Reif of Levittown and James Reif of Feasterville; a daughter Karen Joy Reif, with whom he lived; two brothers, David Reif and Frederick Reif; a sister, Susan Bethea; five grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions in Lawrence's name be made to North Shore Animal League of America, 16 Lewyt St., Port Washington, N.Y. 11050
