Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley Ward, who left us peacefully at the age of 72 on December 11, 2024. Born on November 15, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Bee and Minerva Cox, Shirley was a beloved wife, sister, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone around her.

Shirley dedicated her life to being a devoted homemaker, creating a nurturing and loving environment for her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Ward; her brother, Adam “Buck” Cox (Peggy) and her sister, Irene James (the late Christopher). Her family and friends will remember her for her generous spirit, unwavering support, and infectious laughter.

In honor of Shirley's life and the joy she brought to so many, a memorial service will be held at Tomlinson Funeral Home on December 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM, following a public visitation that will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to join as we celebrate Shirley's life and the cherished memories we shared with her.

As we gather to honor Shirley, we hold her memory close to our hearts, grateful for the time we shared and the love we received from such a remarkable woman. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to live on in those who loved her.
