Edward Zimmer

Obituary for Edward Joseph Zimmer

Edward (Ed) Joseph Zimmer, age 63, entered into eternal life on August 11, 2019, at his home in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He graciously donated his body to pancreatic cancer research in hopes of preventing others’ suffering.

Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Tracy Ann (Zegar) and their children, Zoey Samantha and Hailey Grace of Pottstown; his previous wife, Maureen “Angel” Zimmer of Moorestown, New Jersey and their children, Edward Joseph Jr. of Frackville, Pennsylvania and Elissa Janis Flynn (Brian) of Moorestown, New Jersey; his sister, Nancy Ellen Zack (Zimmer) of Philadelphia; his four grandchildren: Logan, Molly, Olivia, and Brielle; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Adam and Beatrice Elizabeth (Collins) of Trevose, Pennsylvania; and brothers: Albert Adam Jr. and Michael Carl, both of Mechanicsburg and John Edward of Portland, Oregon.

Ed was born on April 4th 1956 at Lower Bucks Hospital in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Bensalem High School in 1974 and later attended technical college for printing in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania where he resided for many years. Ed worked as a technical sales representative for over 42 years at Flint printing and later Water Ink Technologies and Actega of Charlotte, North Carolina and most recently at Acura of Limerick, Pennsylvania.

Ed was a great family man and a loving father to his four children and four grandchildren and was so proud of them all. He always put his family first and loved coaching his son’s baseball and football teams and attending his daughter’s gymnastics and swim meets. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone and never said no to a person in need. Ed was selfless and opened up his homes to many people over the years including siblings, grandchildren, and friends.

Ed was a social, funny, and active man who was a motorcyclist and scuba diving enthusiast over the course of his life. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his best friend, Sam, and his wife, Tracy, rollerblading on Kelly Drive in Philadelphia, going to the beach (especially Wildwood and Lavallette, New Jersey), and playing cards, horseshoes, board games, and brip with his children. He loved all the Philadelphia sports teams and enjoyed attending and watching games on TV. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. His family and friends will always remember him as a warm and loving person.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled on August 17th 2019, at Bacchi Funeral Home, 805 Dekalb Pike (Route 202), Bridgeport, Pa 19405 with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, followed by a prayer service at 11:30. Father Francisco of St. Aloysius parish in Pottstown, Pennsylvania will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ed’s extraordinary life.

The Zimmer family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center, Palliative Care and Hospice for their caring treatment as well as supportive family, friends and neighbors during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed’s name to support his children’s education.
