In Memory

Kathy A. Dougherty (Kurilla) - Class Of 1978

Kathy A. Dougherty (Kurilla)

Kathleen Ann Dougherty Kurilla
Warrington - The world lost a beautiful soul on May 3, 2021, when Kathleen Ann Dougherty Kurilla lost her courageous battle to COVID-19 at Doylestown Hospital. She was one of the kindest, most caring, loving, compassionate, selfless, and certainly the strongest person we were honored to have in our lives. Kathy, 60, of Warrington, PA, was best known for her huge kind heart, her sense of humor, and infectious laugh. How she could light up a room with that laugh! She loved to cook, and was always thrilled to share her many amazing recipes and creations. Her cheesecake was the best ever, and the recipe remains in the "vault", shared with only those few most worthy, and secretly labeled "This recipe is very sacred, guard it with your life LOL". Kathy saw only the best in every person she met and, in every situation, and had the patience of a saint. She was the most loyal friend, and made many lasting friendships due to her magnetic personality, kind warm nature and ability to listen and truly care. She lived her life with faith, grace and gratitude. She was always quick to compliment, congratulate, and support any achievement, and give of herself in any time of need. She loved life's simple pleasures, the beach, crafting, and appreciated any kind of comedy - stand up, good or bad comedic movies, and especially Jim Gaffigan- and was game for any adventure. She had a love for music of many genres, from classic rock to pop to alternative to Celtic, and always enjoyed a good live music venue or concert. She embraced diversity by loving all living things. She was an animal lover, from horses to dogs and most recently to cats! Above all and first and foremost, Kathy LOVED being a wife and mother, and was a fierce and unrelenting advocate for her boys, Austin and Dylan, in their fight with autism and their special needs. She was proud of "the boys" every achievement, and made sure they wanted for nothing. She gladly, tirelessly, and selflessly gave most of her time and energy to autism causes to support her boys, always putting herself second to their needs. Kathy was born in Neptune, New Jersey and resided most of her life in Bucks County. She was a graduate of Bensalem High School, Class of 1978. She worked most of her career as a highly respected underwriter and claims adjuster in the insurance industry, and was most recently employed as a valued health concierge at Aetna/CVS. She was predeceased by her parents John and Virginia Dougherty, sister Ginny and father-in-law John Kurilla. Kathy is survived by her husband Joseph Kurilla and twin sons Austin and Dylan, niece Michelle Walser, nephew John Walser, mother-in-law Vilma Kurilla, brothers and sisters-in-law Ed Kurilla, Jack and Karen Kurilla, Debbie Kurilla, Donna and Peter Molettiere, and Jen and Matt Mayock, "like sisters" Patricia Haneman and Karen Fox Noonan, goddaughter Kylee Haneman, and a medley of family and friends. Kathy will be forever missed, as she left her legacy and mark on so many lives. An outdoor memorial service will be held on May 22, 2021, weather permitting, at Riverside Community Church, 239 Columbia Ave., Horsham, PA 19044. Visitation hours will be from 9AM-10AM, and service from 10-11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please mail donations c/o the Kathleen Kurilla Memorial Fund, TD Bank, 450 York Rd., Warminster, PA 18974. And as per Kathy's last wish on her Facebook page, please continue to wear a mask, and get vaccinated. Her tragedy is proof that this virus is still out there, spares no one, and "only the good die young". Kathy, we love you and you will forever live in our hearts.
