In Memory

Alexander Welch, age 63, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at Nazareth Hospital where he started and ended his career in ultrasound. Born September 17, 1962, he was a pioneer in the ultrasound field, dedicating over 40 years to advancing diagnostic practices and mentoring countless ultrasound technologist along the way. Outside of his career, Alex was a devoted Freemason—a Royal Arch Mason, Scottish Rite member, and member of Commandery of Knights Templar of Pennsylvania—guiding many in their Masonic journeys, including his own son. And most importantly he was a friend to all that he met. He often said, "People don’t die; bodies do," a reminder of his belief in the enduring spirit, first said to him by his favorite pastor Dr. Chinn.
He is survived by his mother, Beverly; his father, Steve; and his children, Michael, Lauren, and Eric. He was predeceased by his sister, Pamela, and his father, David Welch. A Masonic-based funeral will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 321 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. Attendees are asked to arrive dressed as he would have recognized them—Masons in tuxedos, hospital staff in scrubs.
