Michael Madden, Jr. Obituary

On Monday, May 25, 2020, Michael (Mike) D. Madden Jr, loving husband and father suddenly passed away at the age of 48.

Mike was born in 1971 in Philadelphia, PA to Michael and Kathleen (McGuckin) Madden. He was a long-time Northrop Grumman employee who proudly served his country through his computer security efforts for the Department of Defense.  For years, he also served his community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Paoli and Fairless Hills.  In 2013, he earned his Boy Scout Wood Badge in order to be a better Cub Scout Leader.

18 years ago, he married his best friend, Christine.  His proudest moments in life were the births of his two sons, Michael III and Alexander.  His sons were his pride and joy, and his love for them was boundless.  Two years ago, a Shorkie puppy, Thor “Thunderpaws” Madden, joined the family and was constantly by Mike’s side.

Mike loved music and was a  audiophile who would happily discuss the merits of speakers, subwoofers, and bass for hours – “it’s too loud” was a constant comment in our house :)   He was passionate about electronics and computer security – always tinkering with some project or another – teaching his boys what he knew.  He was taken from us too soon but will always be remembered as the goofball, with the big laugh, who loved his family wholeheartedly.

In addition to his wife, Christine and sons, Michael III and Alexander, he is survived by his mother, Kathleen Madden; grandmother, Virginia McGuckin; sister, Melinda D’Alessandro; and brother, Eric Madden.

Services and Interment will be private at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street, West Chester 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA,1212 Phoenixville Pike West Chester, PA 19380, where we found our beloved Thor.
