F. Russell Manning Jr.

Friday, June 18th, 1943 - Monday, September 11th, 2023

Russ was a huge fan of all sports, but he especially loved the Phillies and the Eagles. He was involved in youth sports for over 50 years. He coached all ages in many sports including Armstrong Middle School baseball and flag football. He kept score for Jr. Varsity and Varsity Basketball at Bensalem High School for many years. Russ umpired for KNA Umpiring, PIAA Umpiring Association, Jr. and Sr. Babe Ruth Baseball Association and Legion Baseball. He served on the Senior Babe Ruth Baseball Association board for 13 years. He also served on the Bensalem Township Board of Recreation where he was instrumental in developing the Valley Athletic Association fields at Washington Lane. He served on the Valley Athletic Association Board and ran the concession stand for several years. Russ will be inducted into the Bensalem High School Sports Hall of Fame in January 2024.

He is survived by Penny, his loving wife of 56 years. His children; Russell (Angie) of Langhorne, Andrew of Studio City, Tim (Bryn) of Newtown, and Amy (Justin) of Downingtown. He has seven grandchildren, Abigail, Bridget, Owen, Skylar, Hunter, Hayes, and Tessa. He is also survived by his cousins, Bill and Stan Szlachta, and Arlene Harper.

Russ was a member of Bensalem United Methodist Church where he served as an usher, counter, and custodian of the chapel. Donations in his memory can be made to Bensalem United Methodist Church, 4300 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020.
