Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard J. Brown, a cherished father, respected judge, and beloved friend. Len left us peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Molly (Warhoftig) and Meyer Brown and was a longtime resident of Bensalem.
Len was a proud graduate of Olney High School, Class of 1962. He began his professional journey working at Logan Electric while attending night classes at Penn State and Temple Universities. His commitment to public service began in 1985 when he became a constable, a role he held until 1991, when he earned the honor of serving as Magisterial District Judge—a role that allowed him to impact the lives of countless individuals throughout Bucks County over the next 24 years. In that time, Len presided over approximately 7,000 cases each year, showcasing his dedication and passion for justice.
Outside the courtroom, Len was a man of many interests. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Len also enjoyed reading about history—especially the Civil War—played chess and tennis, and was an avid golfer. He often relished in the sounds of his favorite bands like the Grateful Dead, The Beatles, and the Beach Boys, along with classical music. Len also had a knack for coin collecting, assembling model trains and planes, and cherished his nights with friends at La Cena.
Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denise M. (Devlin) Brown. He will be deeply missed by his loving son, Matthew R. Brown (Olga) and grandchild on the way. Leonard was also preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Kantrowitz.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 5 to 7 PM at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020. Leonard’s Funeral Service that will take place on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Congregation Tifereth Israel, 2909 Bristol Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020 at precisely 10:15 AM.
