Rose Egan Obituary
EGAN, Rose, aged 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Up until her death, Rose maintained her kindness, compassion, and her love for family and friends. She was born in Philadelphia, but was later moved to Bucks County at a young age. From there, she graduated from Bensalem High School. She later moved back to Philadelphia, where she met her husband, James Francis Egan Jr. They were married in 1968. The two were deeply in love with each other, traveling and enjoying each other's company. For most of her life, she worked as a bookkeeper. She worked as a bookkeeper at SOS Defender. Later, she became a bookkeeper at SPIN, which is an organization that supports children and adults with intellectual, developmental, and autism spectrum disabilities. When she retired, she worked at Sesame Place as a toll booth employee for 10 years.
Rose was also an active member of the Maternity BVM Parish. She volunteered as treasurer and became co-president of the Senior Citizens Club. She also helped run the Script Program for the school. Rose's talents were many. She loved to spend time with family, friends, read a plethora of books, and crochet blankets. She was preceded in death by her son, James Francis Egan III, in 1983, her late husband, James Francis Egan Jr., in 2004, and her granddaughter, Alexandra Ridgway, in 2020. She is survived by her 7 children, Sheron, Janice, Michelle, Rosemary, Danielle, Jeffrey, and Joseph, 16 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday, April 28th from 8:30 to 9:30am at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 9304 Old Bustleton Ave. Phila PA 19115. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10am at Maternity BVM Church. Interment Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
