Clifford J. Vandegrift

Clifford J. Vandegrift of Solebury, PA died on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his children, he was 78.

Born in Bensalem, PA, he was the beloved husband of his late wife, Susan M. Vandegrift for 50 years and the son of the late Joseph and Charlotte Henderson Vandegrift.

Cliff grew up in Bucks County, graduated from Bensalem High School in 1962, and owned and operated J.B. Midway Construction with his late wife. 

Trained as a master carpenter, Cliff was a stunningly accomplished and creative woodworker and artist, producing gorgeous furniture and objects of art that will be forever treasured by his family and friends to whom he gifted many pieces. In 2002, Cliff and Susan designed and built their magnificent dream home in Solebury, where every detail was meticulously designed and constructed, beautifully demonstrating Cliff’s remarkable talent and passion.

He was a brilliant chef and enjoyed life spending time with others, often showing his love by hosting dinner parties where he prepared the entire menu. His home is filled with notes of thanks for the wonderful companionship and the delicious food. He adored his grandchildren and relished in having fun with them so much that he built a zipline in his backyard and a painting table station in his living room and spent many happy days with them.  Cliff loved the ocean and enjoyed travelling to the Caribbean with Susan as well as many family trips over the years in Cape May, NJ. His love and kindness for his family and friends will always be remembered and cherished.

Cliff is survived by his children Kimberly and Gary Heary of Sewell, NJ, Dennis and Maxine Vandegrift of Furlong, and Christy and Rod Major of Fountainville, his sisters, Linda and Bill Betz of Langhorne, and Darlene Vandegrift of New York. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters.

A private service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4583 Landisville Rd., Doylestown, PA 18902. His interment will also be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center.
